KC EXPANDS TO BECOME MAJORITY OWNER OF NUNA LOGISTICS LIMITED

18 August 2016

David Omilgoitok, President and CEO of Kitikmeot Corporation (KC), is pleased to announce the acquisition of Nunasi Corporation’s interest in Nuna Logistics Limited (Nuna), making Kitikmeot Corporation majority 51% owner of Nuna.

Nuna has been a member of the KC Group of Companies since Nuna was founded in 1993. Nuna is the largest Aboriginal owned heavy civil and mining contractor in Canada. While Nuna’s focus has historically been on major projects in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories, its success and reputation has also enabled business development nationally.

“It makes good business sense for Nuna Logistics, a business with roots founded by business leaders from the Kitikmeot region, to be majority owned by Kitikmeot Inuit” Omilgoitok stated, “We are proud of this transaction, and look forward to working with our partners in Nuna for many more years to come.”

Nuna continues to work with Qikiqtaaluk Corporation and Sakku Investments Corporation on projects within their respective regions.
