Kitikmeot Corporation

Launched in December, 2002, I&D Management Services is a consortium of Inuit and Dene groups. The company is a human resource agency and currently supplies more than 100 employees, including 50 aboriginals, to mine projects in the north.

I&D was formed to meet the North's changing demand for management services.
I&D Management is 100 per cent Aboriginal owned by TliCho Investment Corperation, Yellowknife's Deton' Cho Corporation, Denesoline Corporation of Lutsel K'e, and Kitikmeot Corporation, the business development arm of the Kitikmeot Inuit Association.
The company's major client is Diavik Diamond Mines Inc (DDMI). I&D is providing about 20 per cent, of the Diavik Diamond Mine site workforce. I&D employees operate ore haul trucks, excavators, dozers, and other heavy equipment at the mine located 300 kilometres northeast of Yellowknife. An additional four employees are based at the company's Yellowknife offices.
I&D is committed to the North. About 75 percent of employees are northern, with 50 percent being Aboriginal. Twenty-five per cent of I&D's employees participated in Diavik training programs prior to employment with I&D.
While these jobs are important to the short term health of northern communities, of greater significance is the expertise acquired by I & D Management Services. With this expertise, the company is well placed to provide services to future projects.
